NPSN founder Marie Manthey passed away on December 12, 2024. She is remembered by Nursing Peer Support Network volunteers and participants as the architect and creative force behind NPSN. Marie formed NPSN as a non-profit organization in 2014, recruiting nurses in recovery from substance use disorders to provide peer support to other nurses in recovery. With unwavering commitment to fighting the shame and stigma present towards substance use disorders in nursing, Marie helped NPSN grow in size and influence. Now, 10 years later, NPSN supports over 400 nurses in recovery every month through peer support groups. Additionally, scores of Minnesota nurses and nursing students have received information about this topic from NPSN educational presentations.

In honor of Marie's own wishes, NPSN is a designated recipient of memorial donations. To  donate in Marie's memory, please click on the "donate" button below or mail a contribution to NPSN, Box 181, 8362 Tamarack Village, Suite 119, Woodbury, MN 55125.

Created in 2014 in Minnesota the Nurses Peer Support Network (NPSNetwork) is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt, non-for-profit organization. NPSNetwork joins a number of peer support organizations throughout the country providing support to nurses recovering from Substance Use Disorder.

Minnesota's model is unique in being a stand-alone organization.  NPSN is governed by a Board of Directors and depends for operations and programming upon support from individuals, organizations, businesses, corporations and foundations.

NPSNetwork's mission is two-fold, to serve nurses in recovery throughout Minnesota  and to provide education to the nursing schools, professional organizations, employers of nurses and the general public about the disease, recovery and the role of peer support.
