Carrie Mortrud is a Registered Nurse with a BSN from St. Catherine's. She served as an RN at Abbott Northwestern for 9 years and then joined the staff of the Minnesota Association of Nurses (MNA). Carrie served as a lobbyist for 8 years and has experience organizing to advocate for legislation. She was lead lobbyist for legislation promotion safety for nurses and patients with the Safe Practices Handling Legislation, which became an industry model. She continued at MNA in various roles including her last as Executive Manager of Governance and Policy until January 2024. Currently she runs a service for those widowed and volunteers for grief support groups as well as NPSN.
