Deb has worked with NPSN from near the beginning of the organization. She has been a member of the Board of Directors and has been involved as a member of the NPSN education committee since 2015. Deb is passionate about the topic of SUD among nurses as it was the research focus of her doctoral dissertation in nursing. She is the author of several articles about SUD among nurses.
Deb's specialty in nursing is as a psychiatric nurse and nurse educator. She taught nursing for 30 years at 3 different Twin Cities nursing programs.
Deb's tenure as a board member ended at the end of 2022. This coincided with her retirement as a nurse educator at Metropolitan State University in Saint Paul. She stepped into the NPSN executive director position in January, 2023.
