​Niki Gjere, PHD, PMHCNS-BC, RN, APRN, CNS

Niki Gjere PhD, PMHCNS-BC, RN, APRN, CNS is a Clinical Nurse Specialist in the Mental Health and Addiction Clinical Service Line at Allina Health. She has been a nurse for over 40 years.  She has expertise in advocacy, detoxification, care system improvements, care paths, complex care support and implementation, co-occurring illnesses (psychiatric and addiction). 

Niki is a member of the Board of Directors of the Minnesota Organization of Registered Nurses; Chair of the Commission on Nursing Practice and Education for the Minnesota Nurses Association; Secretary for Sigma Theta Tau, Zeta Chapter, on the Honors and Awards Committee for the American Psychiatric Nurses Association, member of the International Society of Psychiatric Nurses, and a member of several other professional associations.

Niki, says:  “Throughout my career in nursing, I have worked with those who experience addiction.  I am very concerned about the significance of shame and stigma and how this prevents people from seeking help. I am also very concerned about how the healthcare system can perpetuate shame and stigma."
