Munira MaalimIsaq, MSN, RN, PHN, FNP-s, works as a telemetry nurse at Methodist Hospital.
She was the recipient of the Sarah Harrison Knight Nurse of Excellence Award in 2021. Munira
has conducted extensive community outreach in underserved communities, educated residents
about the COVID-19 vaccine roll-out reducing vaccine hesitancy, and organized pop-up vaccine
campaigns at Mosques and community centers. Munira has successfully created a support group
for Somali-Americans struggling with alcoholism in Minneapolis, where community members
can obtain culturally sensitive and appropriate sobriety help by engaging with community leaders
to address the rising rates of alcoholism among Somali immigrants. Munira is currently a
member of Methodist Hospital's Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity Committee, where she
collaborates with the Methodist Executive Team to provide strategic input on health equity for
the organization.
